If you intend to buy Caritas Health Shield products, think again.

I have compiled several Caritas Health Shield reviews for 2020 for the benefit of those who would like to  research HMOs before they take their leap to buy a health card.

This was the first thing I searched for when I looked for an angle to this story. And boy what I did found! I was thinking of abandoning this review because there are a lot of juicy materials already and I don't want to further add to the discussion.

FAKE REVIEWS about Caritas Health Shield

There are already a lot of reviews about Caritas Health Shield. What I did is to consolidate them since some of these reviews have been reported and flagged as spam by the outsourced personnel of caritas health shield. Such as the blog of mumbles (dianagolez.wordpress.com). I hope this blog will not suffer the same fate as her blog.

1. Caritas Health Shield - show cause order - The Insurance Commission issued a Show Cause Order requiring Caritas Health Shield to explain the complaints filed against them by planholders and people their agents might have scammed.
2. Response of caritas health shield This is the response of Caritas Health Shield through major newspapers. It was alleged that someone was smearing the name of the company. I have included my own comments to their response.
3. Why caritas health shield scrapped their products. This is my own take on why Caritas Health Shield discontinued their products. Gold, Prime Plus and Premier health care products were discontinued because they were losing money. They were replaced by inferior products.
4. Caritas health shield is not innovating anymore. Many companies are creating new and better products far superior than their old products. For Caritas Health Shield, it's the other way around. Caritas Max, Kiddie Plan, Core 6 and Core 10 are not good products that can compare to the old ones.

1. Bill Velasco's feature about Ajay Pathak and What Caritas Health Shield Did. Ajay Pathak was a tennis player who suffered an ailment. Let me quote Bill Velasco: According to the Expanded Health Care Services Program entered into by Pathak with Caritas Health Shield signed and sealed on November 11, 2011, the family is entitled to a coverage of P 450,000 per illness per year. Pathak was supposedly entitled to the maximum coverage because the policy was in its tenth year. Therefore, upon his death, Pathak’s family was entitled to P 2,250,000 in health care and hospitalization benefits.However, Caritas Health Shield allegedly claimed that all his illnesses were related to his original diagnosis, denying that no unrelated illnesses arose while he was confined. Caritas remitted P410,626.01 to the hospital as what it considered the due coverage amount, an amount short by P1,839,373.99 according to the family’s legal representation.On September 14, 2012 the family obtained a certification from Dr. Liza M. Llanes-Garcia, FPCP, FPCCP attesting that all the other diseases were not related to his admitting diagnosis, and therefore were all distinct illnesses that came about during his confinement. 
2. Sunstar's report about insurance commission warning caritas health shield. This is the same as the show cause order to Caritas Health Shield by the Insurance Commission.
3. ABS-CBN's report about an unusable card. This was the topic in the video above. Caritas Health Shield's agents did not send the ID to the policyholder. There are several complaints similar in nature and this still happens until today.
4. Alvin Elchico's Report about payment scams. Again, this is a report by Alvin Elchico about payment schemes using credit card.
5. Text spam from caritas health shield agents. Caritas Health Shield employees and personnel were sending promos to unsuspecting victims claiming them as free. They found out much later that theur credit cards have been swiped. In addition, text messages were spam and they did not ask permission from the owners to send text messages.
6. Globe filing spamming complaint against caritas health shield. Due to the proliferation of text messages to unsuspecting  people, Globe sued Caritas Health Shield accusing them of abuse of network and spam sending.
7. Business world report about IC's warning to caritas health shield.  Business world reported about the show cause order the insurance commission gave to Caritas Health Shield.

Caritas Health Shield has been served with a Cease and Desist Order by the Insurance Commission

Caritas has been served with and Cease and Desist Order. Meaning, they are not allowed to sell anymore. What does this mean?

This means that Caritas Health Shield can no longer sell health and HMO plans to anyone anymore - from individuals to companies. So if someone is trying to sell you CHSI HMO, take the other way and run.
